Why I ran the Colour Run

One of this year’s Colour Runners for Alice House Hospice was Kelly O’Dwyer in memory of her brother Jason O’Dwyer who passed away in the Hospice in April 2018.

Kelly said, “The Hospice cared for my brother for the last two months of his life, it’s such a warming friendly place and the second day in he called it home. I knew then the he was going to be well looked after.”

“I’d like to think I can help keep the Hospice going in giving the outstanding care they give and for the future people, whoever that may be, to receive that outstanding care that they deserve just like my brother did.”

“It will always be a special place for me and my family and I will continue to support it in any way that I can.”

“I knew the colour run was coming up in the July and I had promised Jason that I would run it for him and help raise money for the Hospice to show we will be eternally grateful.  Jason knew I was going to do it, it was tough but I had been training 3 times a week where possible to build my fitness up so I could manage the 5k on the day.”

Before the event Kelly said, “I know Jason will be alongside me in spirit pushing me on. It’s going to be an emotional day but such an achievement for Jason’s memory and raising money for an amazing charity within this town.”

Kelly has so far raised almost £400 for her colour run in Jason’s memory. She also said she wants to keep Jason’s memory alive and they are forever grateful for the care that Jason received. Although the event is finished for 2018 you can still sponsor Kelly here  Sponsor Kelly
