The Hospice Inpatient services encompass Symptom Control, Long Term Care and Respite Care, all of which provide vital services to our patients and their families. A total of 220 patients were cared for across these three services during the period April 2017- March 2018. Paula has not only worked in all of these areas but some of her family members have also used the services.

Paula said, “The care received was second to none and could not be faulted.”

Paula continued, “Since starting my new role I have been working closely with the Senior Management Team and the new Clinical Lead for Community Services, Barbara Thompson. I want to help develop the services we already have and determine how we can create new services. Palliative care needs are ever changing and the Hospice needs to be able to change to accommodate these needs.”

“Alongside Barbara we will be working to help improve things for both patients and staff, looking at areas where changes can be made and working closely with everyone to manage this change. Currently we are looking at more efficient line management so that staff have the support they need from the right people at the right time; the more supported our staff feel they better they are able to do their jobs which can only benefit our patients and their families.”

“Patients should always be our key focus and we need to adapt to meet their changing needs. I will be working to develop the amazing team we already have and make sure we are always striving to improve and be as efficient as we can be so we can continue to improve on the fantastic work we already do.”

Paula added, “My door is always open and I am always here to listen, advise and support our staff. I am only as good as the team I have to support me and I have no doubt I have the best team possible to go forward with.”
