Hospice staff out and about…

Staff from Alice House were delighted to be invited to attend Hartlepool Retired Men’s Forum’s weekly meeting as guest speakers.

On 27 September, Rebecca Jobson and Greg Hildreth attended the meeting and prepared a presentation about the history of Alice House along with information on services and how they are funded.

There were around 50 men in attendance and Rebecca and Greg were very pleased to meet a group member, John Baker, who was the original Treasurer for the Hospice between 1980 and 1988 and was instrumental in the establishment of the charity.

Greg said “It was lovely to have the opportunity to share the Hospice story with members of the group; we were made to feel really welcome and our talk was well received. It was lovely that everyone was so interested in Alice House and we were very grateful to come away with some kind donations.”

Rebecca added “It was such a nice surprise to meet John Baker and to hear about the early days of the Hospice in Hutton Avenue and his work alongside our founder Alice Bendle. I’d like to thank Hartlepool Retired Men’s Forum on behalf of everyone at the Hospice; it was a pleasure to come and see you all and hope that we can meet again soon.”

If you are part of a group, business or organisation that would like to invite Hospice staff to come and speak about the charity, you can contact Rebecca on rjobson@alicehousehospice.co.uk
