About the event
Alice House Hospice is always looking to find new ways to engage community support. This year we are launching a new and innovative event called ‘Walk a Million Miles with Us’.
We need to recruit 1000 people to walk 1000 miles over the course of a year. This equates to 2.7 miles a day or 6000 steps, well below the recommended average steps and easily achieved without any extra effort by people of all abilities.
All we ask is that people donate or raise 28 pence a day, less than the price of one takeaway coffee per week, which totals £100 over the year. The Hospice provides you with a pedometer, collection box and sponsor forms to support you with this challenge, and it is only £2 to register.
The first two to register were the Hospice’s CEO, Tracy Woodall and Chair of Trustees, Ray Priestman. Tracy said“We have had a great response to this initiative so far and I would like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved. I don’t know of any other charity doing this, so we want to make it a huge trailblazer. To achieve the million miles together as a community would be a fantastic achievement and a great way of sustaining patient care in our area.”
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser at the Hospice “This is a great way to get fit and support patient care at the Hospice.”
