Inspirational Young Cyclists

Three inspirational young people organised a 5 mile sponsored bike ride and raised an incredible £1,252 for patient care services provided by Alice House Hospice.

The event, which took place in cold conditions on 20 January, was organised by brother and sister Tilly and Toby Parker (9 & 12) with their friend Kate Cameron (11), in memory of Toby and Tilly’s aunt Allison Hay who had sadly passed away a year ago.

The route went from Hartlepool Cricket Club to Hart Village and back. The children along with other participants, friends and family got together following the ride for a party in the Cricket Club.

Janice Forbes, the Hospice’s Community Fundraiser said “Toby, Tilly and Kate as well as their friends and supporters are great examples of what young people can do for their community. They raised a fantastic amount of money in memory of Allison and I have no doubt that she would be very proud.”

Toby and Tilly’s mother Rachel Parker said “We all really proud of them, they planned everything themselves and we are amazed with how much they have raised”.

Support of Hospice care is something that runs in the family as Toby and Tilly’s grandfather Jim Ainslie is also a trustee of the Hospice.
