Along with his dad Suli and a support team of volunteers including Lee, Lewin will embark on the 150 mile round trip on 22 August and will return home on his 10^th birthday on the 24^th.

Lewin and his family have already held a fundraising evening in support of the project: The Hospice Hoedown was on 6 July at Hartlepool Workingmen’s Club and included pie and peas, raffles, stand-up bingo and live music from local favourites Pek & Wanley. The event raised a fantastic £923.

As a pupil of Barnard Grove Primary School, Lewin has been supported by his classmates and teachers who helped him raise £246 with a ‘wear purple’ day in line with the familiar colours of Alice House. Lewin spoke in a special full school assembly on the day, talking about his plans and answering questions from other staff and pupils. The school are also holding a competition to design a logo for the event.
