Night and Day In Memory Events
This autumn Alice House Hospice have ‘night and day’ events for those wishing to raise funds in memory of loved ones for the benefit of future families who need hospice care; 2 different events, one which will be held during the day and one during the night.
The Moonlight Memory Walk is on Saturday 8th September and is the 12th annual night-time walk. The sponsored event starts with fun and music around 8pm with the 5 mile walk starting at 10pm. A warm supper and medal will await your return.
New for 2018 is the Memory Stroll – a shorter Sunday morning sponsored stroll along the Headland.
The first person to register for the new Memory Stroll event is Gill Reay, who shared with us her reasons for registering, “When I first saw the event posted on Facebook I was instantly drawn to it because of my family connections with both the Hospice and the Headland. My Uncle, Bill Hunter, was one of the first patients in the Hospice in Wells Avenue where he passed away . My mother and father in law both passed away in the Hospice and my mother was an inpatient too so I have first-hand experience of the care provided at challenging times for families”
The low registration fee of only £2.50 also includes free entry into the Heugh Battery Museum on the day of the event, and as Gill says, “Plus there’s the opportunity to visit the Battery which although it has been in the town for years and years many people, including myself, take this historic attraction for granted and never visit it.”
