Summer Fundraising Update

Fundraisers at Alice House Hospice are celebrating another successful summer of fun and fundraising, all in support of local patients and their families.

The summertime is one of the charity’s busiest periods and this year was no exception. The diverse programme of fundraising events included regular favourites Dogs’ Day Out, Forget-Me-Not, Colour Run, Moonlight Walk, Beer Festival, Afternoon Tea and Great North Run and a new Summer Fair, all of which were well supported.

In addition to these, there have been other large events and campaigns including patrons’ Wynyard Park’s Royal Ascot event in memory of Joe Musgrave and Lewin Tubuna’s 150 mile coast to coast bike ride, which he completed on his 10th birthday. There have also been lots of great events in the community, schools and local businesses.

There is one more summer event to come and that is the annual Charity Golf Tournament held at The Wynyard Club, which is another sell-out this year.

The Alice House Fundraising Team are already hard at work on their Christmas events, which include Santa Fun Run, Light up a Life, Share a Card, Trees of Remembrance as well as charity bag packs, bucket collections and more. The Bright Sparks campaign is also about to commence, which sees people or groups challenged to raise as much money as they can from an initial stake of £20.

Fundraiser Greg Hildreth said It’s been another fabulous summer and we are so grateful to all of the individuals, groups, schools, businesses and anyone else who has supported events, sponsored, donated or volunteered in any way. Without the generosity of local people, we would be unable to provide care and support to patients. It’s been one of the busiest summers we have had and it has been a joy to see so much goodwill towards our Hospice.”
