Local solicitors support Alice House Hospice with Make a Will Month

This May, two local law firms - Tilly Bailey & Irvine Law and TMJ Legal Services - are supporting Alice House Hospice by offering free appointments to anyone wishing to make a Will.

Throughout May you can make an appointment to write your Will with one of our partner solicitors, who will kindly waive their usual will writing fees in exchange for a donation made to Alice House Hospice.

Rebecca Jobson at the Hospice said, “Making a Will is something many of us put off, but whatever your circumstances, a properly arranged Will is essential. A Will can help make things easier for your loved ones after you die by letting them know what your personal wishes are.

“We are incredibly grateful to both of our Make a Will Month partners, Tilly Bailey & Irvine and TMJ Legal Services, for their support. Every donation made to Alice House in lieu of a Will writing fee will help us to care for people in Hartlepool and East Durham.”

Annaliese Barber, Senior Associate Solicitor at Tilly Bailey & Irvine and a Trustee of Alice House Hospice, tells us: “Hospices are a vital part of the community and we have always looked to do our bit to help the cause. Over the years this firm has been involved with the Make a Will month, we have raised the sum of £67,441. We were thrilled to have seen thousands raised from the Make a Will Month scheme again last year, and I’m delighted we are continuing the trend again. It is heart-warming to see the difference that it makes in Hartlepool and across Teesside, and that is thanks to the great work that they do at the Hospice. We are also grateful to be helping individuals with an important decision in their lives as we do so.”

Catherine Donworth, Solicitor at TMJ Legal Services, adds: “The Hospice is such an important part of the community and the Hartlepool community have nothing but gratitude for the work and care that is given by the Hospice. As the Hospice only receives a small amount through government funding, these fundraising events are so important. Here at TMJ Legal Services we are always more than happy to take part in the Alice House Hospice Make a Will Month to help contribute. If you have been considering writing or amending your Will then why not use this as an opportunity to do so. It will not only give you peace of mind, but you will be supporting your local hospice too.”

Making a Will can give you peace of mind that your money, property and possessions are dealt with in accordance with your personal wishes.  You may wish to leave a specific gift to a loved one, appoint a guardian for your children, or leave a gift charity, known as a legacy. By making a Will appointment this May, you can tick something important off your to-do list and support your local hospice at the same time.
