Newcastle Building Society help make patients’ stay more comfortable

New beds provided by grant from Newcastle Building Society Community Fund ...

Staff at Alice House Hospice were delighted to receive a grant from the Newcastle Building Society Community Fund at the Community Foundation serving Tyne and Wear and Northumberland to replace two very old and unsatisfactory beds with 2 new electric profiling bed frames.

The new beds are easily adjusted at the touch of a button meaning they can comfortably accommodate very tall patients and in the event of an emergency be quickly moved to facilitate speedy evacuation. The design also reduces the risk of falls injury and bed sores.

Paula Tempest Clinical Lead for Inpatient and Outpatient Services at Alice House Hospice said “The fantastic new beds will help us provide patients who are in the palliative phase of their illness with the most comfortable care. Thank you so much.”
