Team pedal their way to fundraising success

Local company Bridgman IBC completed a three day coast to coast bike ride in aid of their nominated charity Alice House Hospice and raised over £6,000 in sponsorship for patients and families who are affected by incurable illnesses.

Seven Bridgman IBC staff members took part in the challenge, cycling 148 miles and climbing 10,000 ft. over the three days. The team smashed their fundraising target of £5,000 and raised an incredible £6,169.72 which is already being put to good use at Alice House.

"... it (the reroute) didn’t dampen our spirits and seeing the donations flooding in only spurred us on."

Bridgman and Alice House would like to say a special thank you to the following companies who each sponsored a day of the challenge and whose logos were worn on the riders’ shirts: ABET Laminati, Glenmere Timber and DF Richards, as well as the support team of Ben Elstob and Dan Phillips.

The riders were Mick Butler, Stewart Hind, Kyle Gavillet, Andy Ryan, Shaun Morfitt, Thomas Fielding and Jim Greensmith.

Jim, who is Sales and Estimating Manager at Bridgman IBC said, “It was a really enjoyable 3 days, even going 15 miles the wrong direction in the rain and cold on day 2, which had the knock-on effect of us having to do 4 miles on the A66 to help the re-route(!), all in all, it didn’t dampen our spirits and seeing the donations flooding in only spurred us on.

The weather was kind to us on the last day and helped get us get our front wheels in the water by 1:30pm. On behalf of Bridgman IBC I’d like to say a big thankyou to all of our sponsors, riders, Greg at the Hospice for his advice/PR assistance, the support team and especially the board of Bridgman IBC who funded the costs of the ride to ensure that all sponsorship went directly to Alice House and all riders didn’t have to spend a penny.

No guarantee’s but hopefully we can get something organised for next year, go further, climb higher and most importantly, see if we can beat the amount raised for the Hospice!”

Greg Hildreth from Alice House added, “What an absolutely brilliant achievement – massive thanks and congratulations go to all the riders and their supporters for this incredible fundraising total. We have seen some amazing support for this project and I am really pleased to hear that the team from Bridgman had a good time raising all of that money for Hospice care.”
