2 great reasons to volunteer
The Alice House Hospice Communications Team was developed in early 2019 with the purpose of supporting all departments within the Hospice and making sure all supporters have access to the right information, the way they want to receive it and when they need it.
The team produce leaflets, press releases, the new supporter magazine “Hello, my name is Alice ..” and manage all Alice House’s social media platforms amongst other things.
The Communications Team recently appealed on Facebook for Volunteers to join them to help meet the increasing workload. Katie May Ingledew responded to the appeal and started volunteering in August; she settled in quickly and has become a valued member of the team.
Katie said about volunteering, “I made the decision to help and volunteer to build my confidence; and it feels great knowing I can work alongside my Mam.”
Katie’s mam, Liz Ingledew, also volunteered at Alice House and is now employed in Reception and the Administration Department.
Liz said, “I started volunteering in April 2019 and I never thought for one minute I would gain employment as a result; I love every minute.”
