11 year old Grace Martindale raised over £1,300 in memory of her Grandad
"I was inspired by the care my Granda (Kieth Hooks) got when he was in Alice House last year, and both my family and I wanted to do something to say thank you."
“My scones were my Granda’s favourite so I hosted a ‘Cream Tea, in my back garden with all my family and friends. I couldn’t believe it when over 90 people turned up so I’m so pleased with the final figure of £1,320! I did this in memory of my Granda, it was something fun for everyone and we all enjoyed it.“
Grace inspired lots of local businesses to help make her day a success. Tesco donated vouchers for Grace to buy her ingredients, Anna Campbell Hairdressing, Ladies Room and Truly Scrumptious Cakes all donated items and vouchers for the raffle and tombola too. Singer Charlotte Grayson also donated an hour of her time and came along to sing at the event which created a great atmosphere.
Nicola Winwood, In Memory Fundraiser said “It was a fantastic achievement raising this incredible amount; to organise an event like this at only 11 years of age just shows what a lovely, thoughtful girl Grace is. We were thrilled to see Grace come into Alice House to present us with her giant cheque. Well done Grace!”
