#VOLUNTEER22 with Alice House Hospice

Alice House Hospice is about to launch its biggest ever recruitment drive to boost its volunteer workforce across all areas of the charity.

The campaign, which is called #Volunteer22 and launching in July, is reaching out to individuals, community groups and businesses throughout Hartlepool and East Durham, to promote the importance of volunteering, highlight volunteer opportunities and fill volunteer role vacancies.

Remembering Gillian

Staff at Alice House have paid tribute to a much-loved Volunteer who sadly died unexpectedly in November 2021.

Gillian Holbrook volunteered in a variety of roles at the Hospice, initially supporting patients in the Holistic Wellbeing Centre and later as part of the Fundraising Team, working on events, sales and administration.

Kerry Taste and Nutrition

The company constantly strives to support their local community reflecting their business values of inspiring food and nourishing life.

The patient gardens at Alice House Hospice have received a lovely boost thanks to the kindness and support from Kerry Taste and Nutrition of Hartlepool who donated plants, furniture and their own manpower.

Thank you George

Staff and volunteers at Alice House thanked a much-loved volunteer who has cared for the Hospice gardens for nearly 20 years.

George Newbury, who is well known in the local community, started volunteering for Alice House after his late wife Joyce was under their care in 2004.

Meet Lesley Berry

Volunteer to Counsellor

I went into bereavement counselling after the death of a close friend...

One of Jo Radcliffe’s first counselling placements, as a Volunteer, was at Alice House Hospice in 2012 working with people from the community who have been bereaved or anticipating the death of a loved one.

Volunteers Celebrated with Afternoon Tea

Volunteers at Alice House Hospice are involved in every way, from Patient care to Fundraising, Retail Shops to Admin, Finance to Catering and Gardening and Hen Keeping.

Every department is supported by wonderful individuals who volunteer their time, helping our community to have a Hospice that they can be proud of.

Volunteering has its benefits

Alice House Hospice volunteer turned full time staff member Kevin Jeffries is celebrating over a decade in service and sharing his story to encourage others to get involved with the local charity.

Kevin first joined the organisation as a van driver on a volunteer placement arranged by Hartlepool Borough Council in October 2007. Kevin’s enthusiasm, hard work and warm nature impressed his colleagues and he was taken on as a full time paid staff member in March 2008. He still finds the work rewarding and drives around the region doing collections and deliveries for the Hospice’s nine charity shops.
