Alice House Hospice continuously strives to ensure we meet the needs of our communities as much as possible. Hospice UK have launched their programme to ‘Open up Hospice care’ in recognition of the fact that 1:4 people who could access hospice care, can’t access hospice care.
Currently only around 18% of Alice House patients have a non-cancer diagnosis and the team want to improve on this statistic and support more people with non-cancer palliative illnesses.
Alice House Hospice fundraisers are delighted with the result of this year’s golf tournament, which has been the charity’s most successful golf fundraiser yet.
The annual event is organised by Rob Hoskins of R.K. Consultancy and takes place each September at The Wynyard Club. Every year, the sell-out event sees around 25 teams competing in the 4 ball competition, which is followed by dinner, prize giving, raffle and auction. Rob works closely with Alice House throughout the planning process as well as recruiting teams for the day and securing sponsorship of the event. This year sponsors were Drive Vauxhall and Fine & Country Estate Agents, who have both been sponsors for a number of years and also entered teams in the competition.

A grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund means that Alice House Hospice has now become a part of the HenPower Project.

Freda remembers the work of the original group of Hospice Fundraisers, remembers the start of the Hospice in Hutton Avenue and had raised funds herself while she was still in full time work.
