Kickstart Scheme

We are proud to be helping young people into employment by taking part in the Government’s Kickstart Scheme.

We currently have thirty-five young people working in placements, including roles in catering, maintenance, retail, virtual reality and communications.

The Kickstart scheme is a government-supported placement programme helping 16-24-year olds who’ve been out of work, get back on the job ladder. It was launched against the backdrop of rising unemployment during COVID-19, which has disproportionately affected young people, with many of those working in sectors hit especially hard by the pandemic.

Nathan is working in VR at NEVRlabs and said this about his experience so far …

“I volunteered for a while before transitioning to my official role of VR Assistant and it has been a pleasure thus far.

I’ve spent a lot of time moderating the Twitch livestreams, creating transition animations and compiling footage of past and present livestreams for a highlight reel which we hope to release on the NEVRlabs YouTube channel.

The entire team at Alice House and NEVRlabs are kind, friendly, and approachable.”

The Kickstart Scheme is open to people that are aged 16-24 that are currently claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.  If this sounds like you, talk to your Work Coach about Kickstart and see if it could be right for you.
