Long Term Care Unit
The Long Term Care Unit was opened in November 2014 and provides 24 hour nursing care to patients that have Continuing Health Care needs.
For many years we have seen patients come into the Hospice who are ready for discharge yet there is nowhere appropriate for them to be discharged to. Their family may feel they are unable to manage at home but that their relative would not want to live in a care home.
"The homely touches - a fleecy blanket around her, a comfy recliner chair for us to rest on. Unlimited cups of tea and hugs from nurses."
The Unit is supported by a Consultant led Multi-Disciplinary Team which includes healthcare professionals such as: Hospice Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Senior Healthcare Assistants, Healthcare Assistants, Complementary Therapist, Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist. This specialist team allows a holistic approach to each individual’s care plan enabling their needs and wishes to be considered.
All of our patients have access to their own individual room with en-suite facilities and the beautiful gardens surrounding the Hospice.
Every patient’s individual nutritional needs are assessed and home cooked food is provided; whatever and whenever the patient would like it.
