Alcohol Free October
Local pub landlord didn't allow a single drop of alcohol to pass his lips throughout October.
Ian Humberson, landlord of the The Nursery Inn Pub, abstained from alcohol throughout the month of October and raised an incredible £2,500 for Alice House Hospice.
Realising the difficulties the Covid-19 pandemic has created for the Hospice’s fundraising, Ian decided to help by taking on Sober October for the 2nd time in four years.
Not only did Ian refrain from enjoying a cool pint of beer whilst serving his customers and during his weekly pool game with his firends, he also held a showcase evening for students of the Kate Sirs School of Music and held a raffle to boost his fundraising efforts.
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser said, “Ian has raised an incredible amount for Alice House and I would like to thank all his customers at the Nursery Inn who supported and sponsored him.”
Ian has added that there will be more charity events at the pub in the future. He said, “We are always doing bits and bobs throughout the year, so at some point there will be something.”
