Alice House Hospice offer a wide range of services that support its local community and professionals.
These Services Include:
Inpatient Services for, Symptom management, Respite, Long Term Beds and End of Life Care. The Services are Consultant led and have a large Multi-Disciplinary Team in place to provide excellent specialist care.
Day Hospice which provides specialist support and symptom management for patients, including blood transfusions and intravenous therapies such as treatment for hypercalcemia. Day Hospice also provides psychological support for patients and delivers individualised, holistic care to all.
For any adult living in Hartlepool or East Durham with life-limiting or terminal illnesses who would benefit from more social activities to enhance their wellbeing.
The service is designed to reduce isolation and offer stimulation to individuals who may live alone or for those who wish to seek peer support from individuals who are facing similar experiences.
This service also gives carers some time out with the comfort of knowing that their loved ones are being cared for by professionals in a safe environment.
Complex Needs Day Care provides social and respite support for patients and their carers with one important difference. We accept referrals for people who have a complex health care need or multiple health care needs which cannot be managed in our usual Day Care. Any medical conditions need to be relatively stable. There will be a higher staff to patient ratio in Complex Needs Day Care with access to a registered general nurse at all times, medical review by a Nurse Practitioner can be arranged if required.
Homecare, is provided to anyone within the community regardless of diagnosis. We provide domiciliary care and have an experienced team who are able to provide basic personal care and more skilled care such as stoma, PEG and tracheostomy care. The Hospice prides itself on delivering the best care to its clients and support the District Nurses to ensure that patients can remain in their own homes. The carers are supported by the Hospice team which operate 24/7 so advice is always at hand.
The Hospice Helpline is accessible to professionals and the public. Patients and families can contact the Hospice Helpline 24/7 where advice, support and signposting is available. Any professional can also contact the helpline for advice and guidance. The helpline is manned by Hospice Doctors and Registered Nurses. The Helpline number is 01429 855558.
Counselling & Support Services offer counselling for bereavement and anticipatory grief for both adults and children. There is also the Jo & Mya programme which reaches out to schools to support professionals with children who are grieving.
The Complementary Therapy service at Alice House Hospice offers a gentle therapeutic intervention which can be accessed by Hospice patients, Day Care patients, Outpatients and the local community. Whether referred by a medical professional and given alongside conventional medication, to help symptom management or by self-referral and to simply promote relaxation and an increased sense of wellbeing, treatments are tailored to the individual and aimed to offer the maximum benefit to the patients’ health and happiness. Therapies offered include Aromatherapy, Reflexology and various different types of Massage. Some Beauty Therapies are also available.
